Suburban Wholesale & Supply purchased a new copier and gave the old machine an unforgettable “Office Space” inspired retirement—with a forklift, a little destruction and plenty of laughs.

A Very Suburban Equipment Retirement
Suburban Wholesale Gets a New Copier—and Gives the Old One an “Office Space” Farewell
After years of paper jams, error messages and questionable cooperation, our old copier finally reached the end of its working life. We could have quietly rolled it out the back door—but where is the fun in that?
New copier: installed.
Old copier: terminated by forklift.
It was the “Office Space” moment we had always wanted at the shop.
Every Office Has That One Machine
You know the machine. It jams when a customer is waiting. It runs out of toner during an important proposal. It displays an error code that appears to have been written in another language.
For years, our old copier helped print proposals, product information, delivery paperwork and plenty of other documents. We appreciate its service—but we also remember every moment it refused to cooperate.
When the new copier arrived, the old machine’s retirement became official. The only question was how to send it off.
Enter the Forklift
Our warehouse already had the perfect member of the official moving crew: the forklift.
Inspired by the unforgettable copier scene from the movie Office Space, we decided the old machine deserved a more memorable exit than being quietly placed beside a dumpster.
The forklift did not need instructions. There was a little noise, a little mess and a great deal of satisfaction as the copier completed its final assignment.
The Official Copier Retirement Procedure
- 1 Purchase a modern copier that is ready to improve office efficiency.
- 2 Disconnect the old copier and thank it for its years of occasionally dependable service.
- 3 Bring in the forklift—the warehouse equivalent of an executive retirement committee.
- 4 Give the copier one final opportunity to display an error message.
- 5 Create the “Office Space” moment everyone in the building has secretly wanted.
- 6 Clean up the mess and responsibly handle the remaining electronic components.
Why Everyone Understands the Joke
Nearly everyone has dealt with a printer, copier or computer that seemed determined to make a simple task unnecessarily difficult.
That shared frustration is what makes the famous movie scene—and our warehouse version of it—so satisfying. Most people would never actually destroy the office copier, but they have probably imagined it at least once.
We simply had the old equipment, the available forklift and the willingness to follow through.
Progress Is Not Always Glamorous
Investing in updated equipment helps our team prepare proposals, process orders and communicate information more efficiently. Those improvements ultimately help us provide better service to contractors and homeowners.
Business progress sometimes looks like new technology, organized systems and improved productivity. Other times, it looks like a forklift driving over an old copier.
Both can be important.
Serious About Service—Never Too Serious to Have Fun
Suburban Wholesale & Supply takes product quality, accurate ordering, contractor training and jobsite delivery seriously.
We also believe people do their best work when they can laugh together. Retiring the copier gave our team a memorable break, removed outdated equipment and created a story worth sharing.
Out With the Old. In With the New.
The new copier is running, the old machine has been officially retired and our forklift has added another responsibility to its résumé.
Visit Suburban Wholesale & Supply for quality windows, siding, entry doors, gutter products and building materials. We promise to help with your order—and keep the forklift away from your paperwork.
